Forward Sensing Camera
The Forward sensing camera, located near the rearview mirror, is used by the high beam control system (HBC) and the land departure warning system (LDWS). It is important to calibrate in order to make sure the vehicle is identifying road markings and triggering the headlamps appropriately.
When to Calibrate Forward Sensing Camera
- Camera replacement
- Clips to camera are replaced
- Windshield is replaced
Headlamp Auto-Leveling
Headlamp Auto-leveling adjust as the vehicle drives giving the best possible illumination and not blinding other drivers. This is most useful when turning corners or going over bumps. It is essential to calibrate to maintain a safe field of vision during nighttime driving.
When to Calibrate Headlamp Auto-Leveling
- Modules is removed or replaced
- Sensor is removed or replaced
- Dashboard is removed or replaced
- Any service that alters vehicle heights
Front Radar
The Front Radar, located in the front bumper/grille, emits and detects radio waves reflected from the vehicle ahead of it. It works in conjunction with the distance recognition support system (DRSS), Mazda radar cruise control (MRCC), and smart brake support (SBS). It is important to calibrate to make sure the vehicle maintains a safe following distance and is able to accurately identify other vehicles/obstacles on the road.
When to Calibrate Front Radar
- Unit is replaced
- Brackets for unit are replaced
- wWhen prompted by the vehicle
Blind Spot Module
The Blind Spot Monitor, located on either quarter panel or inside bumpers, is purposed with detecting vehicles that are outside the view of mirrors and alerting the driven with a light indicator (usually located on the mirrors) and/or an audible beep.
When to Calibrate Blind Spot Module
- Rear bumper is removed or replaced
- Blind Spot Module is removed or replaced
- When prompted by vehicle
