Factory Reset uses officially licensed GM Global Diagnostic Software (GDS 2 w/ GM Multiple Diagnostic Interface), calibration equipment, and uses statements from the ACDelco Technical Delivery System to qualify calibrations.
GM states that all vehicles being repaired must have pre and post scan performed with GM diagnostic software.

These object detecting radars do not usually require a calibration after a collision because they are programmed with the specifications required for operation. It it important during removal and inspection that the sides do not get mixed up. When the sensor is damaged and being replaced, it will need to be programmed to update the factory firmware and apply the profile to the vehicle.
When to Program Object Sensing Radars
- After a replacement of a missing or damaged unit
- Reverse ultrasonic sensors do not typically require this procedure
Steering Angle Sensor
The Steering Angle Sensor measures the steering wheel position and rate of turn. Calibrating this is crucial as its data is used in reference for many ADAS systems, including but not limited to, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and adaptive headlights.
When to Calibrate Steering Angle Sensor
- After a wheel alignment
- After a steering gear or column replacement
- After steering angle sensor replacement
- After a collision or other physical damage
- After a replacement of the electronic brake control module
